I am an organized, educated, self-sufficient, and highly motivated individual, yet often felt inadequate when tasked with navigating the steep learning curve of motherhood. There were new systems to learn, skills to develop, and tasks to keep track of, all while attempting to rest, recover, and bond with my baby. During this period, I juggled contact information for lactation consultants, pediatricians, pelvic floor physical therapists, licensed mental health counselors, parental support groups, etc., all while wondering if I would ever sleep again. I came out of this whirlwind and realized that my experience is not unique to me and that moms everywhere are expected to manage far too much during this challenging time. I know that we can do better than this, and I hope to provide a more holistic approach to postpartum support.
I work locally as a secondary ESL teacher and live in Arlington with my husband, Steve, our daughter, Maggie, and our mini poodle, Freddy.
